EVENT DETAILS

DSCN2793-1-1.jpgGLUE (the Great Lakes Urban Exchange), is a network of young urban leaders who understand that the cities of the Rust Belt—cities like Pittsburgh, Detroit, Cleveland, and Buffalo—have a lot to learn from each other.

GLUE’s members believe that, through partnership with each other, we can help make our cities healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable places to live, for all our residents.  To bring about the kind of transformation necessary to change these former manufacturing cities, we need new methods of sharing the ideas that are working.  We also seek to elevate and replicate the most effective public policies.

GLUE hosts an annual conference to bring together young leaders from cities around the region, and this year, the conference is coming to Pittsburgh.  GLUE has partnered with the Kingsley Association to create a conference that responds to the needs of neighborhoods like Larimer, where too often decisions are made for the community, rather than by the community.  GLUE IV: Green-Lighting Neighborhoods will explore issues and solutions on a variety of scales, but will focus on the neighborhood perspective, neighborhood action, and neighbor-led solutions.  The conference will include practical solutions that you can implement, plus time to think strategically together about how to move forward and make sure none of our neighborhoods are left behind.

At this year’s conference, you can: meet people from other cities working on the same challenges that you face, learn about strategies to attract green jobs, find out about how to change public policy through advocacy, share your story about what it’s like to live in your neighborhood, and build new partnerships to strengthen your work.
